San Francisco

Many people think it is the most dynamic city in the world...for endless reasons. It is the birthplace of many of the progressive concepts and ideologies that led to the development of the original World Trade Center, the original Movie company, the first independent bookstore, California Architecture, California Cuisine, American fashion and design industries, plus the Internet and Biotech industries.

Entrepreneurs, scholars, immigrants, architects, musicians, films makers, actors, poets, writers, students, idealists - all have been enchanted by the City by the Bay. San Francisco boasts the most amazingly diverse population in the world. This rich cultural Mecca offers an educational environment that is constantly evolving. Wealthy investors and Venture Capitalists are always willing to fund concepts that eventually become a reality.

Gracefully spanning the entrance into the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge is the San Francisco icon. Built in 1937, it also is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. The bridge is stunning from both North and South...on a clear day or in the fog...and at sunrise, midday, sunset, or at night! It is a perfect mosaic of all the combined elements offering endless romantic possibilities.

Invented in 1873 by Hallide, the Cable Cars are the only moving landmarks in the country. They also opened up the hills for development. San Francisco is laced with scenic neighborhoods. Having survived the 1906 earthquake, Pacific Heights showcases the City's oldest mansions with magnificent gardens and breathtaking panoramas of the city. Nob Hill was home to the original six Gold Rush Millionaires and Railroad Barons. They built elegant homes and hotels noted for their sweeping vistas.

Chinatown is a preserved art and cultural center for the Chinese community. It boasts one of the largest arrays of exotic herb shops, tea rooms, temples, fabric stores, just to name a few.

Built in 1915 for the Panama Pacific Exposition, the romantic Palace of Fine Arts is a fine example of the Beaux Arts architectural style. It rises like a mirage from it's landscaped, swan-filled lagoon, and casts you away to some far away land.

During the great boom year of 1850-1900, with the Sierra Gold-Rush, Comstock Silver Rush and the excitement of the transcontinental railroad, the city flourished. Extravagant mansions sprung up, exploiting every flamboyance of various Victorian styles. Today, there are about 14,000 Victorian houses in the city.
